3rd Football Film Festival

Digging on the Big Screen

The 3rd edition of the Football Film Festival - a competitive review of the best national achievements in documentary film work on football - will be held for the first time at the St. Peter's Fair. Dominica, enriching its cultural offer. The competition projections are planned on a large screen, which will be located in the city center, on the square next to the Baltic Philharmonic in Ołowianka. There, on August 10 at 4:30 p.m., an awards ceremony was planned.

Football+Cinema

The festival will last from August 5 to 10, and its primary goal is to review and promote Polish documentaries (short and full-length) about football, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle. Every day - from Monday to Friday - you will be able to watch the competition entries for free, and there will also be special screenings of feature films - "Dance in the Corner", "Diego" and "Last Chance Match" - as part of the Football Summer Cinema. The organizers will ensure the comfort of viewers, who will be able to watch all productions on comfortable deckchairs.

The creators submitted a total of 30 productions, of which the Selection Committee selected 11 titles qualified for the competition (the detailed repertoire can be found in the Program section). In this phase, the verdict will belong to the Jury appointed by the Festival organizer. The jury, chaired by Janusz Basałaj, will primarily take into account the professional level of production and the artistic value of the films and will award three prizes - the Main Prize. Andrzej Trojanowski, Honorable Mention and Special Award. The winners will receive commemorative statuettes in the form of Gold, Silver and Bronze Eleven as well as financial rewards. The prize pool is PLN 30,000.
Andrzej Trojanowski, patron of the Main Prize, is a man of great merit for Gdańsk who, after a serious illness, passed away on January 25, 2024.

A long-time journalist, and then Advisor to the Mayor of Gdańsk for sports. A man who uniquely understood sports. Also a great visionary, because thanks to him, many top-ranking events took place in Gdańsk over the years, including the football Euro 2012. Andrzej Trojanowski was also one of the jurors in both previous editions of the Football Film Festival. Naming the Main Prize after him is a kind of tribute from the organizers to this noble man and friend of sport. The previous two editions of the Football Film Festival were held at the Summer Stadium, on the beach in Brzeźno. In 2022, the main winner was the film "Beasts from Evil" directed by Tomasz Knittel. A year ago, the Main Prize went to Arkadiusz Stolarek, who directed "Football Festival in Jadowniki. Jadownicznanka – Widzew. Who will win the Golden Eleven this time? We will find out on August 10, during the awards ceremony scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Accompanying events

There will be no shortage of accompanying events during the Football Film Festival, including: meetings with people from the world of football, as well as screenings of special football-related feature films. Two such screenings are planned during the entire event. Details soon!
