The St. Dominic's Fair, now in its 764th year, is a long-standing tradition in Gdańsk, and for 29 years, the Bread Festival has been one of its significant programme events. This year's edition will take place on 28th July (Sunday) at Heweliusz Square, offering numerous attractions as well as tastings of delicious bread and confectionery. The programme on stage and in the programme tents will accompany us from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The XXIX Bread Festival aligns with the healthy eating promotion strategy of the Cereal and Cereal Product Promotion Fund, which finances it. For artisan bakers, it is an excellent opportunity to build relationships with customers and promote high-quality cereal products, fitting in with the trend of consciously planning meals that include good bread.
During the Bread Festival, there will be tastings of bakery and confectionery products, you'll be able to take part in competitions where the prizes will be flour and bakery products, and enjoy artistic performances, including singing sea shanties together with the band Trzy Majtki. The Qfer Theatre will provide attractions for the younger participants of the Bread Festival. In the consultation zone, experts and dietitians will support interested individuals with professional knowledge on how to choose the right bread for their daily diet.
The event is aimed at all visitors to the Fair who, besides tasting bread, will have the opportunity to learn about Pomeranian traditions of artisans who run bakeries and confectioneries. Young people interested in the profession of a baker will have the chance to meet and talk with Masters of the trade, thereby gaining additional knowledge about the career opportunities available in this field.
The Bread Festival is also a valuable opportunity for craftsmen themselves to exchange experiences and have direct conversations with consumers, to better understand their expectations.
The Guild of Bakers and Confectioners in Gdańsk has once again prepared and will conduct the ’Homemade Bread Competition’. We invite everyone who bakes bread in the privacy of their own home to participate and present it for evaluation by a professional jury, which includes baking technologists. Attractive material prizes await the winners.
The organisation of this event was made possible by the cooperation of the organising committee, which includes representatives from the Association of Polish Bakers and Confectioners, the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners in Gdańsk, and MTG. The XXIX Bread Festival in Gdańsk is funded by the Fund for the Promotion of Cereals and Cereal Products.
