St Dominic's Fair is not only about three summer weeks of cultural and market festivals. The organizers of the fair, together with the manager of Śródmieście, started activities for the residents who are neighbors of the event. The first step was to replace some of the benches on Hevelius Square.
The tradition of the period of preparation for the St. Fair. Dominika there are meetings with the inhabitants of Śródmieście, during which the schedule of activities related to the event and its detailed description and assumptions are presented. People who live next to the fair and experience it every day also share their observations and comments. During the last meeting in 2023, the organizers of the fair - Gdańsk International Fair - after consultations with the manager of Śródmieście, Monika Nkome Evini, and residents, proposed and then approved a campaign for the event's neighbors.
Its premiere was the replacement of some of the benches at Hevelius Square - this is one of the places used by the fair and it is worth refreshing it before the new summer season.
As planned, in March 2024, MTG began replacing the benches in the indicated location. In the central part of the square, near the Hevelius monument, 14 of them appeared - replacing the destroyed/used ones. The model of the benches was indicated and approved by the Gdańsk Road and Greenery Authority. On the benches you can find the characteristic logo of the St Dominic's Fair.
The organizers want to continue the campaign in the coming years. Currently, work is underway on a multi-year plan specifying MTG's activities for Śródmieście and its residents.
This year's St Dominic's Fair will be held from July 27 to August 18.
