Marketplace traffic management in the City Centre

From 14 July, the installation of infrastructure for St. Dominic's Fair will commence. This will involve changes to traffic management in Gdańsk's city centre. The changes will be in effect until 23 August. St. Dominic's Fair will take place from 26 July to 17 August.

As in previous years, modifications to traffic management in Gdańsk city centre are being introduced in two stages. From 16 June to 13 July, the Summer Traffic Organisation is in effect, which will return between 24-31 August.

However, during the installation and dismantling of the St. Dominic's Fair infrastructure, as well as for the duration of the event (26 July – 17 August), the Fair Traffic Organisation will be in effect.

This involves the following changes:

Main City (from 14 July)

  • Access to the Main City area will be permitted only for holders of IMG identification (to SOD) and FGM sector parking cards, from Targ Drzewny, solely via ul. św. Ducha.
  • Entry to Szeroka Street from Targ Drzewny is impossible
  • Złotników, Szklary, Lawendowa Streets – one-way traffic to Podwale Staromiejskie Street
  • Entry to streets covered by the Fair for residents with an IGM identification (to SOD) and FGM sector parking cards between 20:00–10:00 and Friday-Saturday 21:00–10:00 in catering zones
  • In the vicinity of the Fish Market and Świętopełka Square, temporary extensions of the entry closure time for residents may occur – please adhere to the instructions of security personnel.
  • The entrance to the Fish Market from Podwale Staromiejskie Street is closed to traffic. Access is via Szklary Street, which is two-way, and U Furty – Tobiasza Street, which is one-way.

Old Town (from 17 July)

  • Rajska Street – closed to traffic – section from Podwale Staromiejskie Street to Heweliusza Street and Wielkie Młyny Street and Podmłyńska Street
  • The streets Na Piaskach and Katarzynki at the intersections with ul. Rajska will remain cul-de-sacs, known as blind streets.
  • Podwale Staromiejskie, from Lawendowa Street to its end in the direction of Wałowa Street, will be a one-way street towards Wałowa Street.
  • The section from Targ Drzewny to Lawendowa Street and Podwale Staromiejskie Street is closed to traffic. The diversion will be via Kowalska Street, Korzenna Street, Heweliusza Street to Rajska Street or further to Łagiewniki Street and Wałowa Street.
  • Grodzka Street and Stara Stocznia Street will be one-way streets towards Wałowa Street for access to the underground garage of the Brabank building.
  • The right-hand lanes of Podwale Staromiejskie and Grodzka streets will be designated as parking spaces within the Paid Parking Zone (SPP).
  • Stolarska Street, Igielnicka Street – one-way traffic in the direction of Podwale Staromiejskie Street, Mniszki Street – no changes

Long Gardens (from 21 July)

  • Szafarnia will be closed to vehicular traffic from the entrance to the underground car park of the Waterlane building to the intersection with Długie Ogrody Street.
  • The section of Długie Ogrody street from the roundabout of Seredyńskiego to the roundabout with Łąkowa street will be a one-way street towards Łąkowa street.
  • Szopy Street, at the intersection with Długie Ogrody Street, will be a dead-end street (no possibility to enter Długie Ogrody Street from the aforementioned streets).
  • Krowoderska Street and St. Barbara Street and Serydyńskiego Street will be dead-end streets (no possibility to enter Długie Ogrody Street from the above-mentioned streets).
  • Długie Ogrody from Żuławska Gate to the entrance of car park P2 (residents) – two-way traffic
  • Motławska Street from Stągiewna Street and Spichrzowa Street – one-way towards Chmielna Street

Resident parking

Resident parking will be available at Targ Węglowy from July 14th to August 24th for the exclusive use of Main Town residents. Entry and parking will be permitted based on a valid IGM identification certificate and FGM sector parking permit, as well as an MTG identification certificate.

Parking in the vicinity of the Żuławska Gate will be available from 21 July to 24 August for residents of Długie Ogrody Street and the surrounding area. Similarly, an entrance will be designated, and parking will be possible based on a parking permit for sector FDO – with the identifier, you should report to the Fair Service Office (9 am-3 pm, from 14 July, Monday to Friday) at Szklary Street, in order to obtain an MTG identifier for the duration of the event – only this authorises entry to the car park.

Parking on Rycerska will be available from 14 July to 24 August – for residents of Targ Rybny and streets adjacent to Targ Rybny. Parking will be possible based on an ID issued by MTG.

Park and Ride

Between 26 July and 17 August, drivers wanting to attend the St. Dominic's Fair will be able to leave their cars in the car park at Plac Zebrań Ludowych, which is approximately 1.5 km from the event. Additionally, based on the parking ticket, up to 5 people will be able to use the nearby tram to efficiently reach the Fair by public transport.

Ticket cost

  • Tourists – 25 zł.
  • Residents / resident card – £20.

Ticket valid for travel on the route (return journey):

  • Oliwska Gate (stop at the People's Assembly Square) – Wyżynna Gate
  • Brama Oliwska (stop at Square of People's Assemblies) – Hucisko
  • Oliwska Gate (bus stop at People's Assembly Square) – New Gardens

Payment for parking can be made: via the APCOA FLOW mobile app or at the parking meter located on the premises – proof of payment is by entering the registration number into the parking meter or by placing the parking ticket behind the vehicle's windscreen in a clearly visible location, in a manner that allows the full content of the parking ticket to be read.

IGM Identifier

To drive a car within the expanded and permanent SOD, an IGM permit is required. This permit is issued to residents of the property (both owners and tenants), as well as owners, tenants, or leaseholders of commercial premises located within the SOD.

Those eligible are invited to collect free IGM passes from:

  • The GZDiZ Service Point at ul. Wodopój 7 is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and on Wednesdays from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • The GZDiZ Customer Service Offices at ul. Partyzantów 36 are open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and on Wednesdays from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. More information can be found at www.jarmarkswdominika.pl.
