764. St Dominic's Fair is open! It's time for the 23rd day of the Festival of Wonders

On Saturday, July 27, the official opening of the 764th St. Fair took place. Dominica. The official part, i.e. handing over the key to the city to merchants, was preceded and concluded by the artistic part. St Dominic's Fair will last until August 18. Exhibitors wait every day from 10:00 to 20:00. The exception will be the food court on Fridays and Saturdays, which will be open until 9:00 p.m. See you at the Festival of Wonders!

The sounds coming from the Carillon inaugurated the official start of the 764th St Dominic's Fair. The Opening Ceremony, whose partner was Energa from the ORLEN Group, began with a genre scene in which the main roles were played by actresses: Katarzyna Bujakiewicz - a tourist and Dorota Stefańska - a resident of Gdańsk. All accompanied by the actors of the Gdańsk Archipelago of Culture and the Gdańsk Garrison.

After the artistic part, it was time for the official part.

– The fair that is starting is the result of a beautiful history and tradition that began with the Order of Dominican Brothers. I am glad that we can continue this tradition, because our city is deeply rooted in history. However, this is history to which we always add a touch of modernity, said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz , mayor of Gdańsk.

– The fair is, of course, merchants and artists, but it is also a conversation, a meeting with other people. This is a discussion on very important topics at our various stops, including: at the Equality stop located on Heweliusza Square - added the mayor of Gdańsk.

The official part of the opening ended with the Mayor of Gdańsk handing over the key to the city to Paweł Orłowski , vice-president of the Gdańsk International Fair, the organizer of the event, and the playing of the fair bugle call, which from this year consists of 764 notes.

At this point, merchants "took over" the Main and Old Towns in Gdańsk and the celebration began. A parade of colorful characters, led by Hermes, started down Długa Street. Unexpectedly, he became her main character - proposing to Fortuna. However, this was not part of the script. In their private lives, the actors playing the mentioned roles are a couple. And from Saturday, engagement. This is the Gdańsk festival of wonders!

– At the beginning of this event, we want to recall the Brothers who had the courage to propose this fair to the city of Gdańsk and see how wonderfully this idea and event have developed. And I think we can wish that our reality, which we see around us, would exceed even our dreams and imaginations. Welcome to the Saint Dominic's Fair - said Father Michał Osek OP, prior of the Order of Saint. Dominika in Gdańsk.

The parade reached Przystanek Równość, where the official opening of part of the St. Fair took place. Dominika on Hevelius Square. What was new was the official start of each stop separately: Przystanek Smaków - with the opening of the first fair houses, Przygoda Przygoda with AmberSky - after the appearance of the mascot parade, which had previously set off from Przystań Równość, Przystanek Retro - a fashion show from the 1970s and 1980s century, and at the end of Przystanek Port Gdańsk pod Żaglami - a concert of Mr. B.

– While walking the streets of Gdańsk, you see the street names that were once given by the craftsmen's guild. They illustrate the greatness of Gdańsk, which was built thanks to merchants, trade and craftsmen. Today, ladies and gentlemen, you have a great opportunity to see not only merchants trading, but also crafts - said Mieczysław Struk , Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

– Every street in Gdańsk is now beautiful, filled with joyful people who want to talk to each other, who want to meet, sometimes buy or sell something. We warmly welcome everyone to the Fair, in the heart of Gdańsk - added the marshal.
