A meeting with the spirit of tradition and reflection
Here, in the shadow of the gothic walls of St. Nicholas Basilica, beats the heart of the centuries-old tradition of the St. Dominic's Fair. The stop at the Dominicans is a space for contemplation, peace, and values that have endured for centuries – hospitality, equality, community.
The programme includes, among other things, concerts of sacred and film music, the „Let's Baroque” festival – a new, two-day series of Baroque music concerts, as well as a sung poetry concert – a recital by Fr. Arkadiusz Wojtas OP in the monastery courtyard. There will also be a presentation of the organ as a recurring musical event. A significant highlight will be the solemn Holy Mass (8 August) with music provided, led by Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe from England. In the preceding days (Monday-Wednesday), there will be a retreat with a translator.
Also planned are intuitive painting workshops (sessions for groups of 12), meetings with Dominicans, talks on the history of the order and its role in Gdańsk, as well as a tour of the church with a guided visit by the Friars. A new feature will also be the revitalisation and exhibition of the Teutonic Crypt, made accessible to visitors. Here, spiritual heritage meets modern sensibility, and everyone can find a moment for themselves – regardless of age, faith, or beliefs.
