The St. Dominic's Fair is a veritable paradise for food lovers. At the fair stalls, you'll find over a hundred gastronomic stands offering both local specialities and cuisine from all over the world. It's a unique place where you can taste oriental dishes, Mediterranean cuisine, regional specialities from different parts of Poland, and of course, Gdańsk delicacies prepared as part of the special "Smaki Gdańska" (Tastes of Gdańsk) programme. Each exhibitor has their own tried-and-tested recipes and regular customers – these are not random vendors, but people for whom cooking is a way of life.
The fair is also an excellent opportunity to discover new flavours without risk. You can try cuisine you've never tasted before, and if it doesn't suit you - the next stall is just a few steps away. Many places offer small tasting portions, allowing you to sample more different dishes.
From 2024, the best culinary offerings are additionally recognised in the "Dobry Smak" competition – in the latest edition, Azima Tatarskie Przysmaki were recognised for their pilaw, Piwnica Rajców for their żurek, and the main prize, Grand Prix, was awarded to Cuban cuisine representative RC Reinaldo – for ropa vieja, i.e. pulled beef with yellow rice.
